(WIT) Women in the Trades – these classes are specifically for females only, 18 and older.

(H2H) Helmets to Hardhats – these classes are specifically for Veterans, Transitioning Service Members, Guard and Reserves and Active Duty Spouses only.

If a listed training does not have WIT or H2H in front of the title, 16 and older are eligible to apply but some trainings require you to be 18.

LABORERS FIELD CHALLENGE:

*This training has additional requirements; in order to participate in the Laborers field challenge, you will also need to apply to the Laborers apprenticeship program. Make sure to do so at www.aklts.org/apprenticeship-application. If you register for the field challenge, your form and information will be shared with Alaska Laborers Training School. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS for all Heavy Equipment Operators/Mechanic Classes

The following documents are required along with this application; priority for selection will be given to those who have turned in everything before selections are made.

1. Copy of birth certificate.

2. Copy of high school diploma or GED certificate.

3. High school transcripts or GED scores.

4. Copy of social security card.

5. Copy of DD214 (Veterans only).

6. Copy of valid driver’s license (must be Alaska driver’s license by start of training).

7. Copies of score reports from Work Keys tests: Graphic Literacy, Applied Mathematics, and

Workplace Documents with a score of 4 or higher on each test. Check for the nearest Works Keys office: http://jobs.state.ak.us/offices/index.html  (if job centers are open). 

8.Optional/Recommended: resume, trade school certificates, college transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.

Under the ADA, an impairment needs to be a physiological or mental disorder. Depression, stress, and similar conditions are only sometimes considered impairments under the ADA. Whether depression and stress are considered impairments depends on if they result from a documented mental or physiological disorder or if they result from personal life or job pressures. The impairment must substantially limit at least one major life activity.
